Things to See & Do
Whether you live in the Des Moines metro area or in an outlying community, there are numerous housing options available for you and your family. You can live in a downtown loft or on an acreage in the peace and quiet–it’s all up to you. And when it’s time for some entertainment, the entire region is full of things to see and do!
Des Moines
Pay a visit to the Science Center of Iowa, spend a day at the Blank Park Zoo or take in a play at the Des Moines Performing Arts.
Altoona
Altoona is home to Iowa icon Adventureland Resort. With more than 100 rides and attractions and the Adventure Bay waterpark, Adventureland is the place to be for summer fun.
Ames
Visit Reiman Gardens to see the 11 gardens and indoor butterfly wing and then catch an array of Division I sporting events at Iowa State University.
Ankeny
Ankeny is home to one the area’s first inclusive playgrounds and baseball fields. Ankeny Miracle Park is a fully inclusive environment offering an accessible baseball field and an inclusive playground to welcome children and families of all abilities.
Indianola
Make it a point to head to Summerset Winery to listen to some great jazz music, and in the summer be sure to see the hot air balloons at the National Balloon Classic.

If you’re a racing fan, you’ll love the Iowa Speedway in Newton.
Knoxville
The Knoxville Raceway is home of the Sprint Car National Championships.
