Provides services necessary for the identification, diagnostic evaluation and educational programming for children and youth with disabilities
Assists schools in providing quality learning environments that enhance individualized student achievement
Assists teachers with designing special education programs and districts with designing services for children in the least restrictive setting by consultation with general and special education teachers
Supports school improvement and implementation of the Multi-tiered System of Supports (MTSS) structure
Serves as an advocate for all children and youth
Education & Experience
Master’s degree level of professional training in special education or another area of education
Consultant endorsement, which can be obtained during the first two years of employment at Heartland AEA if other criteria are met
Appropriately license/certification from the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners
Four years of successful experience, with two of those years in special education
Salary
Full-time working 192 days a year: starting salary of $55,783
Full-time with doctorate-level training working 192 days a year: up to $97,369
