Numeracy Project
What is this?
The Numeracy Project is a free numeracy development resource that introduces teachers and teacher leaders to the trajectory by which learners acquire a solid foundation in numeracy. This package contains assessments (universal screeners, a diagnostic tool, progress monitoring) and intervention activities.
How can we support you?
Numeracy Project 2.0 Initial Training
Numeracy Project 2.0 initial training equips educators with the skills to understand numeracy development through the Number Framework and use student thinking to guide instruction. Participants learn to administer assessments to identify learning needs; design targeted, data-driven instruction and monitor progress to improve student outcomes.
As a result of Numeracy Project 2.0 training, participants will:
- Understand the concept of numeracy and use student thinking to examine the development across stages of the Number Framework.
- Learn how to use various assessments in the Numeracy Project to determine learning needs.
- Use data to design instruction and monitor progress within the Numeracy Project.
Numeracy Project 2.0 Workshop
The Numeracy Project 2.0 workshop supports K-12 teachers trained in the Numeracy Project, offering guidance on implementation and addressing common practitioner questions. It includes strategies for planning small group instruction and integrating progress monitoring.
During the Numeracy Project 2.0 workshop, participants will:
- Have opportunities to learn strategies for supporting students who struggle with math.
- Understand how skills from multiple stages can be connected and taught together.
- Explore how the intentional selection of skill codes allows for differentiation opportunities.

Continued Implementation
With continued embedded implementation support, teachers will collaborate with a math consultant to examine student growth data, problem-solve specific students/groups and/or support planning and implementation of intervention instruction.
As a result of the continued embedded implementation support, buildings will:
- Increase implementation of the Numeracy Project using data-based decision-making to improve student outcomes.
- Increase teacher efficacy for instruction of students who currently struggle in math.
Customizable plans allow districts to tailor professional learning and instructional strategies to align with their unique goals, resources and student needs, ensuring targeted and effective implementation.
