School Social Work
Heartland AEA school social workers collaborate with students, schools and families to assess a student’s social-emotional and adaptive behavior needs. School social workers help determine appropriate supports then help create behavior intervention plans.
School social workers are part of teams that:
- Determine eligibility for special education services
- Coordinate home, school and community services
- Collaborate with teachers and parents to plan appropriate research-based instructional strategies
