Nurse Consultation

Heartland AEA employs a special education nurse consultant who provides consultative services to district/school building staff and AEA staff involved in designing programming for children and adolescents with special health needs.

The nurse consultant’s responsibilities include:

• Coaching a school nurse through writing an individualized health plan (IHP) or emergency plan.
• Providing professional development opportunities for school practitioners and school nurses.
• Engaging in problem-solving for students with complex or rare health service needs.
